Bethsy

Hello parents, my name is Bethsy! I am the new English teacher at Arc En Ciel. I was born in Haiti where I grew up speaking French. After having been in the US for several years, I now understand French perfectly but have a harder time speaking the language. I have been studying the field of early childhood education for about 5 years now. I recently obtained my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Hunter College and now hold a New York State teaching certification in early childhood education (Birth-2nd grade). Throughout my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to do my fieldwork practicums in several public schools in the city, such as the prestigious P.S 6, P.S 290 amongst other schools. My educational philosophy is firmly based on Bronfenbrenner’s Systems Theory, which depicts every person as an intersecting point between different relationships, experiences, life circumstances, time, history, and the growth mindset. Besides teaching, I am still a student; I currently just started my master’s degree in special education at Hunter College. I am eternally grateful for being able to make a change and impact my students’ lives in the smallest and most significant way possible. When I am not teaching or surrounded by my students, I enjoy taking the time to work out, read, listen to music, practice mindfulness, and binge-watch my favorite docuseries. I am so pleased to be calling Arc En Ciel my new home, and I can’t wait to serve, learn, and grow with your child.
