It’s that time of year again when leaves change color, and the weather is cooler. While fall is definitely a pretty time of year, it also brings dangers to toddlers and young children. Our Preschool in New York City, New York want all our preschoolers to stay safe and healthy all year round.

Thus, we have gathered this list of fall safety tips for toddlers and preschoolers so families can fully enjoy the season.

  • Make staying inside fun and active

While cold weather often means more time spent inside, it’s important to keep your little ones active, so they have someplace to spend pent up energy. A couple of great ideas are playing “freeze dance”, balloon volleyball, hallway soccer, and broom hockey.

  • Dress for the weather

Autumn mornings can be especially chilly — make sure your little ones are bundled up well, to keep the cold away. Additionally, check the weather report before you leave home to go to your child’s Daycare Center. This way you can dress your little one appropriately.

  • Be on guard for sickness

With cooler weather comes the flu and other sickness. Make sure your home is fully stocked on fluids, vitamin C, children’s medicines, and hand sanitizers. Remind the whole family to regularly wash their hands, and when possible, contact your doctor to schedule everyone for vaccination. This ensures that you and your loved ones will stay protected all throughout the season.
